The Endeavours of Heskey

Forever yesEmile Heskey
The battling Heskey’s goal-scoring shoes
To us have shone so pleasing, as when first
The foot of our striker pointed out the path
To which the defence flailing at his behest
Falls on the wat’ry sod, whose grass-some veil
Cajoles the dominant, and his dribbling power
Piercing thro’ with leporine leg-flex
The hustling defence drops, his flight unoppos’d,
Recoil at his strength, the half-chance to find
Th’external surface of each leathery orb
Propels its forward passage into air;
That hence direct he provides the radial pole
At which the move began; and as he strikes
Past breached lines, the keeper’s obvious cry
Assumes a flagrant fluster, thro’ the deed
To Heskey striking up the scorer’s pose
Of the hailed valiant’s delighted hue.

  1. Colin Baillie says:

    Emile Heskey
    He used to be good
    Then the fan hit the mud
    Emile Heskey
    Overnight he turned sh*te
    But now he’s alright
    Emile Heskey

  2. Isambard Milutinovic says:

    Emile, toil, zeal?
    A desultory amble, a product of mirth
    Past glories of trifling worth, to Fabio
    He glances; a deflating balloon
    O’er the moon once, under the weather Henceforth, dreams
    Dreams of perspicacity.
    Friends, wingers, countrymen
    Lend him your guile, poise, elan;
    Before toys drop, lazily from pram
    A plan, required, a spark, desired.
    The net untouched, unmoved
    Trigger pulled, point proved.
